It happened in a split second.
He wasn’t ready. No one ever is.
The music hadn’t even started yet. The guests were still settling into their seats at The Bower, a venue tucked beneath golden light and glass walls in Edmond, Oklahoma. The florals were perfect. The timeline was on schedule. The nerves had mostly faded. But then the door opened, and he saw her.
And in that split second, he couldn’t breathe.
She stepped into the frame of the doorway like she had floated there. Hair softly pinned, the hem of her gown grazing the concrete with grace. Her eyes found his. And the world, just for a moment, stopped turning.
His mouth quivered. His hand reached for his chest. His knees nearly gave out.
And I was there. Finger on the shutter.
Click.
That image, that exact second, will outlive every centerpiece, cocktail, and perfectly curated Pinterest board. It’s the moment their children will ask about. The photo that will sit on a mantle long after the cake is gone and the dress is tucked away. That image is the wedding.
It’s why this matters.
When you’re planning a wedding, it’s easy to get caught in the whirlwind. The venue. The florals. The seating chart. You want it all to be beautiful. And it should be.
But beauty fades. Memory doesn’t. Unless, of course, you don’t preserve it.
Your wedding photographer isn’t just there to document how things look. A true photographer captures how it felt.
The deep breath before you walk down the aisle. The unexpected tears from a stoic dad. The squeeze of a hand when your vows crack. The quiet, holy stillness in the middle of a room full of celebration. These are the moments that matter.
The truth is, not every photographer looks for these moments. Some are checking off shot lists. Others are stuck adjusting the lighting. But my approach? It’s different.
I’m watching for the quiet. The pauses. The unspoken moments between people who deeply, truly love each other.
Because when your wedding day is over, what will matter most isn’t how your table settings looked. It’s whether your photos make you feel something.
And at The Bower, in that flash of a second when time froze, I saw everything: love, awe, reverence, and the kind of emotion you can’t fake.
When you’re choosing a photographer, choose someone who doesn’t just take photos—choose someone who feels them. Someone who tells stories, not just captures images. Because one day, years from now, you’ll look at your wedding album.
And I want you to cry.
Not because you miss it, but because it’s all still right there, frozen in time.
