They could have gone full Pinterest.
And honestly? No one would’ve blamed them.
The coastal cliffs of Laguna Beach, the perfectly pressed vows, the moody skies rolling in like a watercolor painting—it was all there. But instead of choreographing every frame, they chose to be present.
The light faded faster than we expected. Coastal clouds rolled in, blurring the sunset. But they didn’t panic. They didn’t ask to retake or fix it. They ran, barefoot and laughing, into the ocean.
Their hair was soaked. Their clothes, salty and drenched. It was cinematic and messy and utterly unforgettable.
And their photos? They feel like them.
Pinterest is a beautiful tool. But it’s also a dangerous standard.
Too many couples spend their day trying to recreate something instead of living their own.
Your wedding, whether it’s a full weekend celebration or an intimate elopement on the beach, should feel like you. Your quirks. Your laughter. Your wild, unscripted joy.
That’s what photographs are for: not to impress, but to remember.
When the sky darkened faster than planned, this couple had every excuse to be disappointed. But instead, they leaned in.
We shot in near darkness. We found moments in shadows. We captured them as they were: drenched in the moment, not worried about the timeline.
Their run through the ocean wasn’t on any shot list. But it was the most iconic part of the day.
Here’s what I believe: your photos should reflect the way your day felt, not just how it looked.
If you’re wild, be wild. If you’re silly, be silly. If you’re full of wonder and reverence, let that lead.
Because when you look back on these images ten years from now, I want you to see your truest self, not a styled set that belonged to someone else.
We ended that night at Mozambique Steakhouse, warm and glowing from the kind of joy that only comes from being real.
And those images? They aren’t staged. They aren’t copied. They’re alive.
→ If you want your wedding photos to feel like your love (not a trend) then let’s start planning something honest.
